"PIECES OF THE MOON" is a play written by Playwright NICK FLINT who is known as an actor, director, TV actor, playwright, and as the Co-Artistic Director of the theatre Company One Year Lease.  (OYL)

As a playwright, FLINT has been developing new plays and ensembles for over twenty years and designing extended development processes to create new work. As an actor he has performed with the major Australian state theatre companies, and his screen credits include ongoing roles on Australian TV Dramas.

"PIECES OF THE MOON" may be described as a 'theatrical jazz riff.'  Lacking a premise, its play's plot moves into two different directions and explores two themes:  1) The rise of the Black Arts Movement and   2) The Apollo ll NASA Mission which landed the first person on the moon.  Also, and similar to the Greek's plays where the Play's point of view is conveyed to the audience by the chorus, in "PIECES OF THE MOON" the story is being told from the perspective of a single character:, "godfather of Rap" who will be played by SCOTT- HERON.

"PIECES OF THE MOON" was originally commissioned by the ONE YEAR LEASE THEATRE COMPANY (OYL) and originally the play was set to make its world's premier in August 2020 at the STAGES Theatre in Houston Texas, but When the pandemic made it impossible, by closing all theatres, OYL and STAGES worked together to adapt the play into a radio play.

Not intending to replace an ultimate staged version of the of the work the original play was adapted for a radio style presentation, threaded with the music and poetry of SCOTT-HERON (Considered the "Godfather of rap" and "The Black BOB DYLAN," although he prefers to call himself a "BLUESOLOGIST." ) and combined with   the original transcripts of the NASA's l969 Apollo 11 mission.

The radio play will be directed by LANTHE DEMOS. The design team for the Radio-Play version includes:Sound design: BRENDAN AaNES.  Sound Engineer and Audio Editor TOM BEUCHEL and the  music will be  directed by  GRANVILLE MULLINGS.

The cast features: ADESOLA OSAKALUMI as Gil Scott-Heron, DANNY BERNARDY, ERIC BERRYMAN, ANNA CAMPBELL, EON GREY, NOELLE HOGAN, LEON INGUlSRUD, NATHANIEL KENT, CHRISTINA BENNETT LIND. VIOLETA PICAYO, CHRISTINA PITTER, RICHARD SAUDEK, and SHONA TUCKER.
