THE 2019 LATIN GRAMMY AWARDS

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA -- On November 14th, the stars were not sparkling on the sky. They were shinning here on earth, dressed in their best regalia, walking on the red carpet of the Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. On that night, the dazzling stars of the Hispanic Music firmament: the Producers, the Musicians, the dancers and the recording artists, were gathering at the MGM HOTEL, on the 20th Anniversary of the LATIN GRAMMY AWARDS© Its televised coverage by KDTV Channel 14 Univision, covered the event LIVE, allowing their televidentes (those watching on TV) to listen to bits of the winners' acceptance speeches, watch the presentation of the awards, and watch most of the entertainment acts. The LATIN GRAMMY (El GRAMY LATINO) is considered Latin's music biggest night. The name is given to an award ceremony where a GRAMMY, depicted as a small gramophone, is presented to an artist. selected by The Recording Academy of Arts and Science voting membership, to honor his or her excellence in the recording arts and sciences. Because of it, to receive a GRAMMY is considered a peer honor, given by artists, to artists and technical professionals for their artistic or technical achievement. The AWARDS's ceremony is an event combining the presentation of the awards, in different categories, to the winners, their short speeches and the performances by some of the artists. This year, the 20th LATIN GRAMMY AWARDS presentation was hosted by RICKY MARTIN, ROSELYN SÁNCHEZ y PAZ VEGA who also performed during the performances.
The principal nominations this year (2019) were: THE ALBUM OF THE YEAR. WINNER: ROSALÍA for her album El Mal Quere
ROSALÍA is a Hispanic singer and songwriter well known by her modern interpretations of Flamenco music. She is also a songwriter who had received many GRAMMY nominations in different categories in previous years and on this year. THE RECORD OF THE YEAR Winners: ALEJANDRO SANZ and CAMILA CABELLO RECORD: Mi Persona Favorita
SONG OF THE YEAR WINNER: PEDRO CAPÓ for his reggeton hit "CALMA," (Calmness) BEST URBAN FUSION/PERFORMANCE WINNERS: PEDRO CAPÓ and FARRUKO RECORD: (REMIX) with FARRUKO won in this category.
THE BEST POP SONG WINNER: ALEJANDRO SANZ y CAMILA C. CABELLO

BENITO ANTONIO MARTINEZ OCASIO is a Puerto Rican Latin trap and reggaeton singer who uses BAD BUNNY as his stage name. We should mention that lately BAD BUNNY has incorporated other genres into his music which now includes Rock, Bachata and Soul. BEST URBAN SONG WINNER : "Con Altura". written by the Spanish Singer and songwriter, ROSALÍA, and Colombian singer J BALVIN, Mariachi BUDDA, FRANK DUKES, TEO HALM and ALEJANDRO RAMIREZ and produced by Spanish producer PABLO DIAZ-REIXA, "El GUINCHO".
Spanish singer ROSALÍA was the top winner of the night. Her one-odd single Con Altura, won Best Urban song, The song, released by Sony Music on March 2019 debuted as number one in Spain. Her music video won two MTV Video Music Awards for BEST LATIN and BEST CHOREOGRAPHY, and her landmark 2018 Album El Mal querer, scored accolades for Album of the Year, Best Contemporary Pop Vocal Album, Best Engineered Album and Best Recording Package. BEST ALTERNATIVE MUSIC ALBUM WINNER: "NORMA" the massive tribute closed out with guns blazing or, with an electrifying performance by pan-Latin rock legends DRACO ROSA, FITO PÁEZ, and BETO CUEVAS Together they gave justice, to the Argentinian icon GUSTAVO CERATI , with a vocal assist from ceremony host RICKY MARTIN. BEST NORTEÑO ALBUM WINNER: Percepción ARTIST: INTOCABLE BEST NEW ARTIST OF THE YEAR (2019) > WINNER: NELLA The Award this year was conferred to Venezuelan Singer MARIANELLA ROJAS, "NELLA" for her album VOY Produced by CASALIMÓN, which includes eleven original songs written by Producer/Composer/Lyricist JAVIER LIMÓN. THE PERSON OF THE YEAR WINNER: JUANES
Known professionally as JUANES, former member of the rock band EKHYMOSIS, Colombian musician JUAN ESTEBAN ARISTIZÁBAL VÁSQUEZ is now a solo artist, who debuted in the year 2000 with "Fijate Bien" "Un Día Normal," P.A.R.C.E. his solo album that won him three previous LATIN GRAMMY AWARDS. XIMENA SARIÑA Multi-talented, XIMENA SARIÑANA RIVERA, is a Mexican singer/song writer and actress of the TV show "Gotita de Amor" and film. She is also a film Director. In 2009 she received a GRAMMY nomination for her first album, Mediocre. On that night she entertained the audience by singing accompanying herself at the piano. THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE 2019 LATIN GRAMMY All the performances were wonderful on that night, but what will remain forever in our minds, and will remember this broadcast for for many years to come, will be for the LIVE performance of the most beloved charro singer, VICENTE FERNANDEZ smiling on the stage with his charro hat on his hand, and then sing the song VOLVER accompanied by his son ALEJANDRO and his grandson ALEX, played by the Mariachi SOL de MEXICO.
To be able to hear three generation of FERNANDEZ singing together on the MGM stage on that night, was a unique experience for the Latin community. For years to come, we will remember it. This year's 20th LATIN GRAMMY AWARDS presentation to many, will be unforgettable. |
